Delhi Health Bulletin: With 92 new Covid-19 cases, the capital count is 2,248

Delhi reported 92 new positive cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday that brought the total number of coronavirus cases in the national capital to 2,248, according to data from the Delhi government.

Today one death was reported and 48 people have died from the infectious disease in the national capital to date.

For the first time since the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus disease, the national capital reported no new deaths on Tuesday.

Of the total 48 deaths reported to date, 25 of the deceased were 60 years of age or older, representing 52% of all deaths. Thirteen of them were between 50 and 59 years old and 10 were under 50, according to government data.

The Delhi government has started daily house-to-house monitoring and disinfection of areas falling into the city’s 89 containment zones. A total of 5,619 test samples have so far been collected from the containment areas.

The state government has asked hospitals to make sufficient arrangements for disinfecting vans and ambulances used to transfer patients with Covid-19.

In a recent development, taxi aggregator company Uber has offered the services of 200 taxis in 12-hour shifts, at no cost to the Delhi government until May 3, when the shutdown will be lifted. The Delhi government welcomed the offer and approved an order to use these vehicles to transport non-Covid-19 patients, non-critical patients to and from the hospital in coordination with CATS ambulance helpline services.

On Wednesday, the total number of coronavirus cases in India exceeded the 20,000 mark and rose to 20,471 with the number of deaths at 652, according to data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Maharashtra, which is the most affected state with the maximum number of patients with Covid-19, has reported 6,191 cases of coronavirus disease, including 251 deaths.

Gujarat is now in second place and Delhi remains in third place with 2,248 people infected with the deadly disease.
