Mumbai, Oct 23, 2020: In 2017, Bennett Coleman / Times Network filed a trademark infringement / impersonation lawsuit against Arnab Goswami’s ARG Outlier Media with the Delhi High Court for the protection of its trademarks. “Time for the news” Y “The nation wants to know”.

In this case, Jayant Nath’s Single Court at the Delhi High Court today approved an interim injunction preventing Arnab Goswami’s ARG Outlier Media Private Limited from using “NEWS TIME” or any other similar trademark that is deceptively similar to the trademark ‘NEWS TIME’ from TIMES NOW.

Regarding the motto, THE NATION WANTS TO KNOW, the court has stated that a detailed examination of all evidence is required and therefore for the time being ARG may use it as part of its speech / presentation of any news channel etc. However, the court has ordered if ARG Outlier Media Private Limited elects to use the same as a trademark with respect to any of its products / services, then they are required to maintain accounts for such use. Such accounts will be filed in court regularly in an affidavit from one of the ARG directors once every six months. The Single Judge Bench did not give any findings on the subject of motto ownership NATION WANTS TO KNOW, an argument raised by the Times Group and left the matter to be decided after the evidence had been presented.

Similarly, in 2017, Times Network had filed a lawsuit for breach of confidentiality in Delhi High Court against ARG Outlier in which ARG Outlier pledged not to use TIMES NOW programming material on its channel and based on which exemptions were granted. .
