The Delhi government on Thursday submitted a list of suggestions to the Center to relax in the national capital after May 17.
The current phase, which is the third phase since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of the national blockade that began on March 25 to combat the new coronavirus outbreak in the country, will end on May 17, 2020.
The Delhi government suggested to the Center that after May 17, buses, subways, cars and taxis can operate in the national capital with strict rules of social distancing, according to a report by the Press Trust of India citing government sources. .
In addition, he also suggested that stores in markets, shopping complexes and shopping malls be opened oddly after the current closing period ending May 17, the source added.
“The government has suggested that the opening of markets, complexes and shopping malls should be allowed in Delhi. However, non-essential goods stores in shopping complexes and malls should operate in an odd way,” said a source.
He also told the Center that the movement of workers within the city would be allowed, as well as allowing construction activities.
The source added that the Delhi government was also preparing to issue a standard operating procedure (SOP) to allow various activities in the national capital in the next two to three days.
However, the government led by Kejriwal also told the Center that such activities would not be allowed in the city’s Covid-19 containment areas.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal said different economic activities will be allowed in the city starting May 18 based on decisions made by the Center regarding the relaxation of the confinement.
Meanwhile, the nation’s capital today recorded the highest single-day spike in coronavirus cases, with 472 recent infections bringing its count to 8,470, the health department said. The death toll in the national capital rose to 115. On May 7, Delhi’s previous highest peak of 448 cases was recorded.
