While the sealing in Delhi will be reviewed periodically, that of Noida and Ghaziabad will remain in effect until April 15. The national closure ends on April 14.
Containment zones in Delhi include the Bengali market area and parts of Malviya Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Dwarka, Jahangirpuri, Dilshad Garden, Jhilmil Colony, Mayur Vihar, Preet Vihar and Vasundhara Enclave. Indeed, more than 15,000 Delhiites are under total blockade on their homes. TOI had already reported that the administration of the eastern Delhi district had created eight containment zones on Tuesday.
In Noida, seven residential sectors and eleven group housing companies are among the 22 sealed locations. In Ghaziabad, which has seen less than half the number of Covid-19 cases as Noida – 25 to 62 from Noida – the number of places that have been sealed is 13, including four housing societies.
Seal a stricter version of the lock
All areas that have been sealed have been identified as “hot spots” defined as any location that has seen at least one Covid-19 positive person.
Sealed means a stricter version of the lock. In areas where it went into effect, no one is allowed to enter or exit, with exceptions only for medical emergencies, government pass holders, and residents involved in essential services. Journalists, who are exempt from the blockade, also cannot enter a location that is “sealed” unless the person lives there (since the media is an essential service, he / she can go out to work).
UP treats each case as an “access point”. So if there is a positive case of a flat in a housing society, the whole society is treated as an “access point”. The same for a sector, if a house has a positive case. But Noida and Ghaziabad have a slight difference here. While Noida is considering the entire sector as an “access point” if a case is found there, Ghaziabad in similar circumstances decided to seal only a 1k radio area. All curfew passes previously issued in Noida and Ghaziabad are canceled.
DM, New Delhi issued an order invoking the containment plan for the Delhi / Babar Road Bengali market and the adjacent areas of Todarmal Road, Babar Lane and School Lane after three positive cases of COVID-19 were found in the area from the Bengali market. The order ordered police to cordon off the entire Bengali market area to prevent movement of people outside the vicinity of the Bengali market area to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The DM also directed an action against the owner of the Bengali Pastry Shop, where around 35 people living in a small place were found and the social distancing was not followed, according to the DM’s order. NDMC has started to disinfect areas of the Bengali market to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.
The new areas located under containment zones are entire streets near Gandhi Park, Malviya Nagar, entire streets of Gali No 6, L 1 Sangam Vihar, Shahajahanabad Society, Parcel No 1, Sector 11, Dwarka, Dinpur Village, Markaz Masjid and Nizamuddin Basti, Areas Nizamuddin West (blocks G and D), B Block of Jhangirpuri, Gali No 5, A Block in West Vinod Nagar, J&K, L and H pockets, Dilshad Garden, G, H, J, Blocks old Seemapuri, F- 70 to 90 block the Dilshad colony and Pratap Khand in the Jhilmil colony.
“Some cases have also been reported from the Sadar area. It is also being sealed. All 20 areas have been sealed, ”said MP CM Manish Sisodia.
The sealing conditions will apply only to the specific areas mentioned in the list issued by the state government. Elsewhere, the regular blocking rules that are currently in effect will continue to apply. The sealing also does not mean any change in the security protocols at the borders that Noida and Ghaziabad share with each other and with Delhi.
The 22 “hot spots” in Noida include 12 groups and 10 epicenters. The authorities explained that each area that has a single case is an epicenter. If multiple cases are reported from the same area, the epicenter becomes a group. “For example, the society of Nirala Greenshire and the village of Patwari in Greater Noida are next to each other and are a key point. Similarly, Palm Olympia is an access point and all of society will be sealed. The rest of the Gaur City Township where it is located will not be sealed, ”Bhooshan said. “If more cases arise, the police will make a call to expand or reduce the area,” he added.
Among the 13 critical points identified in Ghaziabad is a Covid Hospital operating from the Community Health Center in Muradnagar.
