New Delhi, October 7

In a major relief for the city’s restaurants amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the Delhi government said on Wednesday that they will be allowed to operate 24 hours and the requirement for tourism licenses will be removed.

Giving an example of the ‘Delhi Model’ of ease of doing business, the government also announced other measures such as the initiation of a process to abolish police licenses and local agency health business licenses for restaurants, an official statement said.

Decisions were made at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The meeting was also attended by restaurant owners from the national capital.

The government said such measures will help the industry generate more jobs in the city through increased demand, adding that this will set an example for the Delhi Model of Ease of Doing Business.

“At the request of the restaurateurs to allow the business 24×7, it was agreed that the restaurants will be able to operate at all hours with the condition that they present a commitment that they will take care of the health and safety of all their personnel. the statement said.

The prime minister also instructed that business health licenses issued by municipal corporations to restaurant industries be abolished within 10 days, he said.

During the meeting, the excise department agreed to review the existing policy of an automatic 10 percent increase in license fees each year.

Senior Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia, who also attended the meeting, called for restaurants to be able to pay their excise taxes by March 31 from the existing February 28 deadline, and to pay the license fee quarterly without any interest, adds the statement. . PTI
