New Delhi:

A Delhi court has extended the interrogation in custody of freelance journalist Rajeev Sharma, detained in a spy case under the Official Secrets Act, by seven days.

Police said Metropolitan Chief Magistrate Pawan Singh Rajawat also extended custody of two of his associates, a Chinese woman and a Nepalese man, for seven days.

The defendants were brought before the court upon the expiration of their previous police custody and the agency requested their new preventive detention.

Police said they were forced to confront each other. Rajeev Sharma was arrested on September 14.

According to the police, a Chinese woman and her Nepalese partner were also arrested for paying her large amounts of money sent through shell companies.

The Delhi police special cell said Rajeev Sharma “was found in possession of some classified defense-related documents.”
