This is the fourth day in a row in September that more than 2,000 new cases have been reported in one day.
Thirteen deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Delhi health department.
As of June 27, the city had recorded 2,948 cases, the highest peak in a single day prior to September 3.
On Thursday 19 deaths were reported while the daily case count was 2,737. On September 1 and 2, the new case count stood at 2,312 and 2,509, respectively.
The active case count on Friday rose to 18,842 from 17,692 the day before.
On June 23, the national capital had reported the highest peak in a single day of 3,947 to date.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Delhi stood at 4,500 on Thursday.
Friday’s bulletin said the death toll from the coronavirus infection has risen to 4,513 and the total number of cases has risen to 1.85,220.
