Delhi Capitals vs. Chennai Super Kings: Prithvi Shaw Shines As DC Defeated CSK for Second Straight IPL Win | Cricket news

CHENNAI: Prithvi ShawElegant hitting play (64 of 43 balls) and disciplined performance on all bowls helped Delhi Capitals to two wins out of two at IPL-13. Having scored 175/3 of his 20 overs thanks to Shaw’s effort, Delhi restricted Chennai Super Kings to 131/7 and posted a 44-run win in Dubai on Friday.
For the second time in a row, CSK were left with a lot to do in the chase. MS Dhoni he batted in the 16th over when 78 of 26 balls were needed. He was sacked for 15 of 12 balls in the final. Clearly, CSK needs Dhoni to do more with the bat in upcoming games.

Unlike the CSK spinners who disappointed once again, DC’s modifiers Axar and Amit Mishra resisted the occasion and put down the opposition hitters. In eight overs between them, they conceded just 41 runs for a wicket.
CSK’s opening partnership remained a problem on Friday. Both of them Shane watson (14) and M Vijay (10) fell into the Powerplay when CSK limped to 34/2 after six overs. Watson inexplicably fell to Axar Patel for the sixth time in his career. It soon got worse for CSK when inexperienced Ruturaj Gaikwad ran out of 5 to give DC their third wicket.

At 47/3 in 10 overs, CSK desperately needed to cut the order rate. While they did hit some limits in the second half, it wasn’t good enough.
It was Shaw who set up the platform for Delhi with a searing blow. And yet CSK had managed to get things back in the last 10 overs. After conceding 88/0 in the first 10 overs, after all, only 87 runs were given away in the final 10.
While Rishabh Pant finished undefeated with 37 of 25 balls, the pattern Shreyas Iyer he managed only 26 of 22 balls. Marcus Stoinis, who hit 53 in the previous game for Delhi, faced just three balls. For CSK, closer Sam Curran (4-0-27-1) and Josh Hazlewood (4-0-28-0) were chosen by the bowlers.
CSK didn’t take any ground in the first six overs, but they kept the execution rate in check when DC reached 36/0. However, once the field restrictions eased, DC’s starters spread their shoulders. While Shaw liked Piyush Chawla and hit some delicious limits through offside, Dhawan didn’t stop. Ravindra Jadeja settle.
Dhoni’s move, however, to keep his spinners was rewarded with the land of Dhawan and Shaw in quick succession. It was Chawla who eliminated both starters, finding redemption by going 4-0-33-2.

Regardless, the shape of the spinners appears to be of concern to CSK. Both Jadeja and Chawla were guilty of bowling that was too short at times and of allowing Shaw in particular to punish them with the cut shot.
Shaw had a lucky break on only the second ball of the inning. Shaw got an inside advantage through Dhoni thanks to a visiting swinger from Chahar. CSK decided not to appeal, but replays showed there was a slight advantage. If Shaw had been turned in then, things could have been a lot easier for the men in yellow.
