Delhi Capitals SUV Axar Patel tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, six days before the start of IPL 2021.
“He had checked into the team hotel in Mumbai on March 28, 2021, with a negative report. His second COVID test report was positive. He is currently in isolation in a designated health care facility, ”said a statement from Delhi Capitals.
According to BCCI protocols, Axar will have to isolate itself outside of the biosecurity movement. The left arm spinner will only be able to join his teammates after he tests negative for infection.
“During the 10 days of isolation, the individual must rest and avoid any exercise. The team physician should regularly monitor the case. If the symptoms worsen during the isolation, the individual should be hospitalized immediately ”, indicates the SOP of the BCCI, according to ANI.
Axar is the second player after Kolkata Knight Riders hitter Nitish Rana to test positive for the virus. Although Rana tested negative for COVID-19 on Thursday after testing positive on March 22.
Axar joined Delhi Capitals in the 2019 IPL auction for Rs 5 crore. Since then, he has cemented his place in the team, playing 14 games in 2019 and 15 in 2020.
Delhi Capitals will open its campaign against Chennai Super Kings on April 10 at Mumbai Wankhede Stadium, where 10 plant employees and six event managers recently tested positive for the virus.
