The Delhi Capitals physical therapy assistant tested positive for COVID-19, the franchise revealed through a press release on Sunday (September 6). The Capitals are the third side to report a positive case in the IPL, following a lone case from Rajasthan Royals before departure to UAE and the cluster of cases at Chennai Super Kings camp.
The capitals of Delhi confirmed that the physio had been in quarantine and not in contact with any other team members. She had independently traveled to the United Arab Emirates earlier this week and tested negative in the first two tests, conducted on days 1 and 3 respectively after her arrival. The third RT-PCR test, performed on day 6, was positive.
“He was immediately isolated, and is currently at IPL’s isolation facility in Dubai for the next 14 days, at the end of which he will have to produce two negative reports in order to join the Delhi Capitals team. Per Tournament Standard Operating Procedure, other team members will be screened on the fifth day of each week throughout the tournament. Delhi Capitals are based in Dubai and will continue training in preparation for IPL 2020. They will open their campaign against Kings XI Punjab in Dubai on September 20.
