Preliminary investigations suggested that the bomb could have been wrapped in plastic / polyethylene and thrown onto the sidewalk from a moving car, probably a bicycle. The bomb landed on the grass and exploded, causing chaos and panic.
Detectives from the Delhi Police Special Cell and intelligence agencies, accompanied by bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs, rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. Police said the bomb could have been an improvised explosive device.
Immigration and airport officials were alerted to monitor all international passengers scheduled to fly in the next 48-72 hours.
“The suspects may have carried out a recon. So we are scanning CCTV footage from the last few days. All nearby hotels are being searched, ”said a senior official.
