Delhi BJP Governed Municipal Bodies Scam Bigger Than CWG Scam: Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Assembly Passed a Voice Vote Resolution for CBI Investigation into Alleged MCD Scam

New Delhi:

Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed on Friday that the alleged Rs 2.5 billion scam at BJP-run municipal corporations was bigger than the 2010 Commonwealth Games scam.

Addressing a special session of the Delhi Assembly, he stated that scams of Rs 5,000-10,000 crore occur every year in municipal corporations while granting the required permits for the construction of buildings.

“This is a very painful event because we have gathered here today to discuss the largest scam in Delhi’s history. The Rs 2,500 crore BJP scam is even bigger than the Commonwealth Games Congress scam.” said Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi. Mounting.

The Assembly passed by voice vote a resolution for the IWC to investigate financial mismanagement and the alleged Rs 2,500 crore fraud at the Delhi Municipal Corporations (MCD) governed by the BJP.

“The amount of 2.5 billion rupees could have been used to pay the salaries of sanitation workers, doctors and other employees of the corporations. It could have been used to set up 12,500 mohalla clinics or 7,500-bed hospitals,” Kejriwal said.

He asked the opposition leader in the Assembly, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, to launch a CBI investigation into the alleged scam.

In rejecting the charges, BJP’s Ramvir Bidhuri said the scam accusations against the MCDs were “unfounded.” He also offered to resign if an independent investigative agency found the allegations true.

The Chief Minister replied: “You have stated that you would resign if the scam turns out to be true, so why don’t you let the CBI investigate it? When we demanded the CBI to investigate the matter, they arrested those who demanded the investigation rather than than those who committed the robbery. “

He claimed that when AAP leaders Raghav Chadha and Atishi attempted to meet with Union Interior Minister Amit Shah and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal with the demand that the CBI investigate the “scam”, the police stopped them.

“When Raghav Chadha said he would meet with Amit Shah, the police arrested him. The police have never done this with rapists. Can’t elected representatives meet with Amit Shah? Amit Shah should have allowed Raghav to have a cup of tea “What harm could Raghav have done to him?”

Citing the BJP’s demand for quota payments of 13 billion rupees to DCMs, the head of the AAP said the courts have also said that all quotas have been paid.

“The court has said that the Delhi government has paid its dues in full to the MCD, however the BJP is seeking Rs 13,000 crore from the dispensation to re-loot the money and commit corruption, it stated.

Kejriwal said there are two models in Delhi, one from the BJP in MCD and the other from the AAP in the Delhi government. The people of Delhi yielded 62 seats in the assembly to the AAP model and rejected the BJP model by giving them only eight seats at the polls, he said.

“The 15-year black era of the BJP in DCMs is going to end. I sincerely hope that 2 million people in Delhi will end this black era in the next municipal corporation elections,” said Arvind Kejriwal.

The AAP leader stated that “everyone knows that BJP-ruled DCMs take money from the people of Delhi to build a residential property in the city.

“Only RSS gets a discount per lender to build a property. And there is an annual scam of Rs 5,000-10,000 crore by allowing the lender only of the buildings,” he alleged.

Introducing the resolution against financial mismanagement and the alleged Rs 2.5 billion scam for discussion at the Delhi Assembly, AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj drew parallels between the BJP and a “greedy mother-in-law”.

“MCD is like the daughter of Delhi who was handed over to the BJP in 2017 by the people. But they indulged in rampant corruption and are now seeking Rs 13,000 crore from the Delhi government,” he said.

The second day of the Delhi Assembly special session on Friday began with noisy scenes as the ruling AAP MLAs demanded a CBI investigation into the alleged 2.5 billion rupee scam.

The AAP MLAs also went to the Chamber well raising slogans and displaying banners. They also displayed a large banner against the alleged Rs 2.5 billion scam in the House.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ram Niwas Goel, adjourned the House session for 15 minutes as the ruling party’s MLAs continued to wave signs and raise slogans despite his attempt to bring order and continue proceedings.

Participating in the debate, Delhi’s Urban Development Minister Satyendar Jain claimed that the MCD was synonymous with corruption.

“It is one of the most corrupt organizations in the world. Bribes ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 5 crore prevail in the granting of building permits,” he alleged.

Opposition BJP MLA Vijender Gupta said the AAP government cut funding for municipal corporations. He also claimed “irregularities” of 1 billion rupees during the past two years at Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojna.

BJP MLA OP Sharma went on strike when he was not allowed to speak during the Assembly session. The president denied him permission, saying he had already withdrawn eight MLAs from the ruling party due to lack of time.

The Chamber was suspended by the President after the approval of the resolution.

The one-day special session called Thursday for a discussion on the alleged scam in the DCMs was extended through Friday, as the House had discussed the Center’s contentious new farm laws on the first day of the session.
