Delhi Airport becomes the main essential medical information center related to Covid-19

The Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi has been designated by the Ministry of Civil Aviation as a major center for the import and distribution of essential medical items related to Covid-19, the ANI news agency reported.

To this end, a dedicated 3800-square-meter distribution facility has been commissioned at the airport.

The civil aviation ministry has been vested with operations to supply medical and other essential products across the country. Last month, India supplied essential drugs to countries from the United States to the Maldives, among other nations.

In a tweet published Thursday, civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated that the ministry has operated 339 flights so far, carrying 587 tons of medical and essential cargo under “Lifeline Udan”.

“The way that India has implemented the blockade and been able to control the spread of COVID19 is largely seen around the world as a template.” Lifeline UDAN continues to transport essential medical supplies to different regions, ”Puri tweeted.

The ministry launched ‘Lifeline Udan’ earlier this month in which flights operated by Air India, Alliance Air, Indian Air Force, Pawan Hans and other private companies are supplying products across the country amid the coronavirus crisis.

In its statement, the ministry said: “The cargo compulsorily supplies goods such as regents, enzymes, medical equipment, test kits and PPE, masks, gloves and other essential items as appropriate by the governments of the State and Union territories” .
