Mumbai: After the drugs angle emerged in the case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has launched a massive crackdown on drug use in the Hindi film industry. After several high-profile celebrities went through the NCB scanner, Deepika Padukone appears to be next in line.
Deepika has entered NCB’s radar after an explosive WhatsApp conversation dating from October 2018 emerged on social media between the actress and her manager. In the conversation, she is supposedly asking for hashish and wants her manager to take her to the fancy Mumbai club called Koko, where she was partying.
In the chats, Deepika is seen asking about ‘Maal’ and referring to Hash and marijuana from Karishma Prakash of Kwan Talent Management Company. By the way, on the same day, while chatting, Karishma asked the actress when she would be arriving at Koko, to which Deepika responded by saying around 11.30-12.
According to sources, that 2017 party at the Koko club has been under the lens of investigative agencies and the NCB is expected to examine footage from the party.
The NCB is likely to summon Deepika Padukone to seek further information on drug use in the Hindi film industry.
Kangana Ranaut criticizes Deepika Padukone for drug connection
Kangana Ranaut, who has been vehemently demanding action against drug use in Bollywood, confronted Deepika Padukone by repeating her WhatsApp conversation about the hash on her official Twitter account. She also joked about the Padmaavat actor’s “depressed” comment following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
Kangana used her Twitter account saying: “Repeat me, depression is a consequence of drug abuse. The so-called rich star children of high society who claim to have class and a good education ask their manager,” MAAL HAI KYA? “#BoycottBollywoodDruggies #DeepikaPadukone”
It should be noted that one day after Sushant was found dead on June 14, Deepika tweeted: “Repeat after me: depression is a disease.”
