Actor Deepika Padukone will appear in front of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday in connection with the investigation into a drugs angle in the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
Padukone, who was in Goa, arrived in Mumbai on Thursday with her husband Ranveer Singh.
She was cited by the agency on Wednesday and acknowledged the citation Thursday. Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh, among others, were also summoned for questioning on the same day. Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan are also expected to appear before the agency on Saturday.
Rakul Preet Singh’s statement was recorded after being questioned by NCB for four hours on Friday. She was seen entering the guesthouse from where the agency operates at around 10:30 a.m., the PTI news agency reported. Rakul Preet Singh’s statement was recorded by SIT today. It will be analyzed and presented in court, ”Mutha Ashok Jain, NCB CEO, told reporters.
Deepika Padukone’s manager Karishma Prakash and former Rajput manager Shruti Modi were also questioned in the case on Friday. Prakash was called up again on Saturday.
The NCB, one of the three agencies investigating the case, launched its investigation after receiving an official communication from the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) regarding a possible drug nexus in Bollywood.
The Department of Education registered a Compliance Case Information Report on July 31 in the case of the late actor’s death after Rajput’s father, KK Singh, filed a First Information Report against Rhea Chakraborty in Bihar on 28 July. Chakraborty has been arrested in the drug case.
Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai flat on June 14.
