HYDERABAD: The state government declared a holiday for the government and private institutions on Wednesday and Thursday, in view of the incessant rains that hit Hyderabad for the past 48 hours, causing widespread flooding.
Senior Secretary (Municipal Administration and Urban Development) Arvind Kumar took to Twitter to announce: “In view of the incessant rains, the state government has declared a holiday today and tomorrow for all private institutions / offices / non-essential services within ORR with work from home advice! “

Kumar and MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao called on citizens to stay home and not venture out unless it is an emergency.
The incessant rains have also caused power outages in various parts of the city since Tuesday night. In the same, Kumar reported, “@TsspdclCorporat had disconnected the power supply in most of the parts yesterday as a precautionary measure, to avoid eventualities and is being restored depending on the conditions of the colony. Please kindly let it be for public safety. “

Meanwhile, MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao ordered officials to take all necessary measures to prevent any loss of life due to the flooding in various parts of the city. On the middle night of Tuesday and Wednesday, a house collapsed in the city, causing nine deaths, including a 2-month-old baby.
Rama Rao said that the government will take all necessary support measures. He instructed that homeless people should be transferred to the GHMC night shelter immediately. The urban authorities have also been instructed to inspect the works and avoid possible accidents. Officials have also been ordered to evacuate people residing in dilapidated buildings.
