NEW DELHI: Former Chief Minister of Assam and senior leader of Congress Tarun gogoi passed away on Monday.
The leader of the Octogenerian Congress was being treated at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital for complications after the Covid.
Expressing anguish over Gogoi’s disappearance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described him as a popular leader and a veteran administrator.
“Shri Tarun Gogoi Ji was a popular leader and veteran administrator, who had years of political experience in Assam as well as the Center. Anguished by his passing. My thoughts are with his family and followers in this hour of sadness. Om Shanti, “he said on Twitter.

Earlier today, the hospital said her condition was very critical.
Gogoi was placed on ventilation after suffering multiple organ failure.
The 84-year-old three-time prime minister was admitted to GMCH on November 2. He was put under invasive ventilation Saturday night when his condition worsened.
He had tested positive for Covid-19 on August 25 and admitted to the GMCH the next day.
