Death of Sushant Singh Rajput: Bombay HC to hear bail statements from 3 defendants in drug case

Mumbai High Court is scheduled to hear bail statements from three people on Friday, including actor Rhea Chakraborty’s partner Samuel Marshal Miranda, arrested in the drug case related to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

A court of Judge Sarang Kotwal is expected to hear bail requests from Miranda, Rajput staff Dipesh Sawant, and alleged drug dealer Abdul Basit Parihar around 3:00 p.m.

A special court in Mumbai had last week rejected the bail declaration of actor Rhea Chakraborty, his brother Showik, Dipesh Sawant, Samuel Miranda, Abdul Basit and Zaid Vilatra. However, Rhea and her brother have yet to file a bond with the superior court.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which arrested the defendants in the drug case related to the actor’s death, had objected to his bail statements in special court. According to NCB, Sawant was arrested for his role in drug acquisition and manipulation based on evidence and statements.

The NCB had launched an investigation after receiving an official communication from the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), in which there were several talks related to the consumption, acquisition, use and transport of drugs in connection with Sushant’s death.

ED had registered a Compliance Case Information Report in the case of the late actor’s death on July 31 after Rajput’s father, KK Singh, filed a first information report (FIR) against Rhea Chakraborty in Bihar on 28 of July.

Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14.
