Dubai [UAE], Oct 12 (ANI): Delhi Capitals has written to the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League, requesting a player to replace Ishant Sharma. The Indian pacemaker has so far played just one match for the franchise against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 13th edition of the IPL.
Speaking to ANI, sources familiar with the developments said a request was sent to IPL GC for a replacement for Ishant. “Yes, we have sent a request to the organizers for a replacement for Ishant,” the source said.
Delhi has had quite a few injury concerns this season and started with Ishant having to miss the first few games due to a back spasm before playing a game. Ravichandran Ashwin also injured his shoulder in the first game of the season after starting with grounds on his first change.
While the shoulder injury healed quickly, luck was not on Amit Mishra’s side. Mishra tried to pick up a catch back from Kolkata Knight Riders’ batter Nitish Rana and injured a tendon in the ring finger of his bowling hand. In the end, he was ruled out of the tournament and had to undergo surgery.
Goalkeeper Rishabh Pant is also out of action due to a hamstring strain that will require a week off. Pant on Friday limped to complete Varun Aaron’s bat reception as the Delhi Capitals celebrated an emphatic victory over the Rajasthan Royals at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Before that, he was also seen struggling to reach the portholes for the launches from the depths. But he started with a sprint halfway down the wicket to stop a quick single early in innings. (AND ME)
