India cricket star Rohit Sharma took to social media on Friday to thank his fans and fellow cricketers for sending wishes on his 33rd birthday.
Rohit Sharma said he experienced ‘mixed emotions’ on Thursday given that his birthday coincided with the passing away of Bollywood legend Rishi Kapoor. Notably, on the eve of Rohit’s birthday, Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan died aged 53 from a colon infection following diagnosis of a neuroendocrine tumor.
The news of the passing away of two of the finest actors of Indian cinema came as a double blow to the countrymen who are in lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rohit Sharma described his emotions with a tweet: “Hi guys, thank you for all for your wonderful wishes. It was a day of mixed emotions as we lost two of our cinema legends, all I can wish for is that life gets back to its new normal and we cherish our time with our loved ones. ”

Unlike the recent past, Rohit Sharma spent the special day at his residence, with his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira. Rohit would have been busy leading the Mumbai Indians franchise in the Indian Premier League at this time of the year but the IPL has been suspended until further notice due to the novel coronavirus crisis.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma also thanked Virat Kohli who had come up with a heartfelt message for his deputy and India teammate.
