When the farmers’ protest in Delhi-NCR entered the eighth day, several borders, including Singhu, Chilla, Ghazipur and Tikri, remained closed to travelers. The Singhu border connects North Delhi with Sonepat via the GT Karnal Highway, which is used by travelers to travel to Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. The Tikri border is near Mundka in West Delhi. Chilla and Ghazipur connect the capital with Noida and Ghaziabad.
As of Wednesday, only the Singhu and Tikri borders were closed and movement was re-established in Chilla. On Thursday afternoon, Delhi Police Additional PRO Anil Mittal said: “The borders of Singhu, Lampur, Auchandi, Safiabad, Piao Maniyari and Saboli are closed. Travelers should take alternate routes via NH-8, Bhopra, the Apsara border and the Peripheral Highway. “
He said traffic has been diverted from the Mukarba and GT Karnal highways. Farmers have been gathering at different entry points to Delhi, even as the largest concentrations remain in Singhu and Tikri.
On Tuesday, hundreds of farmers gathered in Chilla, after which traffic was diverted and police said Thursday that people should avoid the Noida Link highway to reach Delhi and use the DND airway. The Ghazipur border on NH-24 is also closed for travelers from Ghaziabad to Delhi due to protests.

“The Badusarai border is open only for light motor vehicles such as cars and two-wheelers and the Jhatikara border for two-wheelers,” Mittal said, adding that Dhansa, Daurala, Kapashera, Rajokri NH-8, Bijwasan, Bajghera, Palam Vihar and Dundahera borders were open to travelers traveling to Haryana.
By Friday, around a hundred farmers from Haryana’s Palwal and Madhya Pradesh are expected to reach the borders of Delhi. Deputy Commissioner (Palwal) Naresh Narwal said MP farmers had arrived in the district after traveling through Mathura: “About 100 farmers arrived in our district this morning and traveled to Faridabad, from where they intend to head to Delhi. Another 100 farmers from Palwal have also started their journey on foot from Hodal to Delhi this afternoon. We don’t stop them and we simply guarantee the movement of traffic, safety is not hampered. “
Faridabad police said 500 people have been deployed, under the supervision of the DCP (headquarters) and the police commissioner, to ensure law and order. “We will try to peacefully detain MP farmers at the Sikri and Badarpur borders. The Commissioner has instructed the personnel stationed in these areas … that unnecessary force should not be used against them, ”said Sube Singh, PRO, Faridabad Police.

In Gurgaon, although protesting farmers have not yet entered the district, police on Thursday identified eight points from which vehicles will be diverted.
These include the Kapriwas border, with vehicles diverting from here to Delhi via the Pataudi-Jhajjar highway; Bilaspur Chowk, from where vehicles will be diverted onto the Farrukhnagar-Jhajjar highway; and Panchgaon Chowk, from where vehicles will also be diverted onto the Farrukhnagar-Jhajjar highway.
Vehicles at Manesar Chowk will detour through a U-turn for the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal highway, and this detour will also be used for vehicles at the Kherki Daula toll plaza. For vehicles at Hero Honda Chowk, the detour will be the Farrukhnagar-Jhajjar-Badli highway, while for vehicles at Rajiv Chowk, the designated U-turn is via Hero Honda Chowk. Vehicles at Shankar Chowk will also detour through a U-turn on NH-48.
