Daily Covid-19 Case Count in India Drops to 41,400; account exceeds 8.8 million


India recorded 41,100 new cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Sunday, according to the Union Ministry of Health, which raised the overall count to 88,14,579.

There have been 447 new deaths in the last 24 hours and the death toll has reached 1,29,635, according to the update from the Health Ministry at 8 a.m.

The number of active cases once again remained below the five lakh mark (4.79,216) and 82.05,728 patients have been discharged from hospitals.

This is the seventh day in a row that the number of daily cases has remained below 50,000.

The Health Ministry said on Twitter early Sunday that there has been a continuous decline in the average daily cases for the past five weeks. He also shared a chart showing new cases daily from October 3 to November 13.

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Friday that India has initiated an integrated response to overcome the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the 8th BRICS science, technology and innovation ministerial meeting, Vardhan said that India is also organizing clinical trials for all major vaccines, and around 20 vaccines are in different stages of development.

“From the development of indigenous vaccines, novel point-of-care diagnostics, and traditional knowledge-based therapeutic formulations, to the establishment of research resources and the provision of services, India’s R&D entities, both public and private companies are working tirelessly to develop effective interventions to combat the pandemic, ”said the Minister of Health.

Just over 75 percent of the new recovered cases are contributed by 10 states and union territories, and a similar number of states have contributed 76.38% of the new cases.

The 10 states reporting a maximum of Covid-19 cases so far in the country are Delhi, Kerala, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh.
