VISAKHAPATNAM: Cyclone Nivar is most likely to bring widespread rains over southern Andhra Pradesh after it makes landfall, as the influence of the tropical system is seen as far as Tirupati. Hurricane wind speed could reach 65-75 km / h with gusts of up to 85 km / h on November 26.
Under the influence of the system, Guntur and Prakasam received good rains on Tuesday with strong winds blowing over the coastal districts.
Cyclone Nivar can cross the shores of Tamilnadu-Puducherry between Karaikal and Mamallapuram as a very severe cyclonic storm during the afternoon of November 25 or midnight. The Rayalaseema region will witness widespread rains after the system crosses the coast.
Sea conditions will be very high in the southwest and the contiguous west central of the Bay of Bengal and phenomenal in the same area from noon to night. Anglers are advised not to venture into these areas.
After crossing the coast, it is necessary to observe the adjacent subdivisions of the Andhra Pradesh coast, Rayalaseema, to detect side effects of the intense meteorological activity in some areas. Relief from marginal weather conditions can be expected from November 27.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, in a review meeting with the district collectors via video conference, sought to protect crops and inform farmers via RBKs.
“Awareness should be raised among farmers about protecting harvested crops and standing crops should not be harvested after the cyclone. Care must be taken to avoid loss of life and property, ”he said.
