Southern Railways has completely canceled six special trains, in addition to those already canceled on Monday, which were scheduled to travel between Tamil Nadu and Kerala on November 25 (Wednesday), before Cyclone Nivar. The cyclone is expected to hit the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Wednesday.
Southern Railways has announced that passengers will be granted a full refund on tickets. “For e-ticket holders, an automatic refund will be given. For tickets booked at the railway counters, passengers can take advantage of the stations refund within 15 days after the train’s scheduled departure,” said a agency statement. Customers generally have three days to redeem offline tickets; however, in light of the cyclone, this time period has been extended.

The Southern Railway had previously announced, on Monday, that Train No.06795/06796 Chennai Egmore – Tiruchchirappalli – Chennai Egmore Special scheduled to run on November 25 would be completely canceled.

1. Train No. 06231 Mayiladuthurai – Mysuru Special is partially canceled between Mayiladuthurai and Tiruchchirappalli.
2. Partially canceled train # 06187 Karaikkal – Ernakulam Special between Karaikkal and Tiruchchirappalli.
3. Train No. 02084 Coimbatore – Mayiladuthurai Jan Shatabdi Partially canceled Special between Tiruchchirappalli and Mayiladuthurai.
4. Train No. 02083 Mayiladuthurai – Coimbatore Jan Shatabdi Partially canceled special between Mayiladuthurai and Tiruchchirappalli.
5. Partially canceled Special Train No. 02897 Puducherry – Bhubaneswar between Puducherry and Chennai Egmore.
6. Partially canceled train No. 02868 Puducherry – Howrah Superfast Special between Puducherry and Villupuram.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the cyclone is expected to hit the coast between Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu and Karaikal in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday night, as a very severe cyclonic storm. The Tamil Nadu government announced Wednesday as a public holiday and asked people to stay home and follow the guidelines issued by the government.
