In a major blow to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their 2020 Indian Premier League campaign, middle order hitter Suresh Raina has returned to India for personal reasons.
Raina, who traveled with the team to Dubai after a six-day training session in Chennai with captain MS Dhoni, will miss the entire 2020 IPL season.
According to CSK CEO KS Viswanathan, “Suresh Raina has returned to India for personal reasons and will not be available for the remainder of the IPL season. Chennai Super Kings offers full support to Suresh and his family during this time. ”

The news came a day after several members of the CSK contingent, including a mid-pace from India, tested positive for Covid-19 in Dubai. The Indian Express understands that in addition to the shutdown of India, which plays in the shorter formats, some network bowlers, some members of the digital / social media team, and a CSK team official have also tested positive.
The Chennai-based franchise was scheduled to start training from Friday, but it is known that after the latest development, the team has postponed it until September 1. Those who have tested positive will self-isolate for 14 days outside the biobubble.
Unless you can confirm what the ‘personal’ reasons are, speculating is highly unprofessional. Don’t try to connect the dots that might not exist. Thoughts and prayers with Raina and her family … and it won’t be a bad idea to respect someone’s privacy for once. 🙏

The heart goes out to @ImRaina who has to miss the # Dream11IPL for personal reasons. Having recently spoken to him at @cricbuzzI know how desperate he was to get it right. Huge blow to @ChennaiIPL. They have the resources to recover, but Raina and CSK are so intertwined.

The 33-year-old, who announced his international retirement on August 15 along with MS Dhoni, traveled with the team to Dubai on August 21. The members of the squads are isolated.
IPL 2020 begins on September 19 and was moved to the UAE this year due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in India.
