CSK failed to chase a 170 target against Royal Challengers Bangalore get down on 37 runs on Saturday night. This was his fifth loss in seven games.
“Too many holes in the boat and when you try to plug one, there is water flowing from another. We need to act together,” Dhoni said in the post-match presentation.
“Everything has to work in the same game to get a result. Once we get a result in our favor, it will be a little different for us,” he expected.

Dhoni admitted that hitters on his team are dropping a lot of deliveries in a format that primarily rewards the big shots.
“Hitting has been a bit worrying and today it was also evident. We have to do something about it. We can’t keep showing up … it’s almost the same thing that is happening, maybe the individuals are different,” he added. said a disappointed Dhoni in the post-match presentation.

“I think it’s better to play the other way around – play the big shots and even if you come out that’s fine because we can’t drop too many after the 15th or 16th. That just puts too much pressure on the lower order hitters.
In their previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders, CSK had fallen short by 10 runs while chasing 167.
“Our hitting has lacked a bit, you can say, more power from the 6th onwards. Individuals get tentative and no matter how much confidence you give them, they ultimately have to have their own plan for how to play.
“We have not been able to adapt and plan for the 6 to 14 overs bowlers.”

RCB racked up 66 in the final four overs to score a total of 169 of 4. Dhoni admitted his team conceded too many.
“I think the last 4 overs when we were bowling (they didn’t go as planned), before the players had done a good job, we had to close it out well,” Dhoni said.
“I feel like when it comes to our bowling we have shown that we can restrict the opposition, (but) either we hit too much in the first six or in the last four.”
The former India captain said CSK will have to find their combination in upcoming games.
“We started with five pitchers initially, but now we have six, but that’s something we can do in the next game. That’s a position that we can trade with a foreign pitcher or an Indian pitcher.
“But our main concern is still hitting where we have not been consistent. In the next games we will be a little more expressive, we will come out in 17 instead of having grounds.”
