GORAKHPUR: Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday that the Covid-19 vaccine will be available in the state near the Hindu festival ‘Makar Sankranti’, to be held on January 14.
Speaking at a program in Gorakhpur, he said: “We started the campaign against Covid-19 in March 2020 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and earlier this year we could firmly say that the vaccine trial will take place on January 5 in the entire state and the vaccine will be available near Makar Sankranti. ”
The prime minister added that a test of the vaccine will be carried out in some places in the state on Saturday.
Adityanath was speaking as he laid the foundation stone for the Lawyer Building on the university campus on Saturday.
On Friday, the Central Medicines Control Organization (CDSCO) Subject Matter Expert Committee (SEC) on Covid-19 recommended granting permission for the restricted emergency use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine, which is being manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, paving the way for the launch of the first Covid-19 shot in the country in the coming days.
