NEW DELHI: The Union Health Ministry clarified on Monday that the Co-WIN app is “for administrators only” and that individuals who wish to book an appointment for Covid-19 vaccination should visit the Co-WIN website.
The ministry gave the clarification amid reports of registry failures when India opened vaccination for the elderly and people aged 45 and over with comorbidities.
“Registration and reservation for an appointment for vaccination will be done through the Co-WIN portal: http://cowin.gov.in.” The Ministry of Health said in a tweet.

Where to register for the Covid vaccine
Citizens can register and book an appointment for vaccination, anytime and anywhere, using the Co-WIN 2.0 portal or through other computer applications such as Aarogya Setu.
There is also a walk-in provision for recipients to check in at the nearby session site to get vaccinated.
Eligible beneficiaries can choose the center of their choice and book an appointment based on available spaces.
Over 1 million registered on the Co-WIN website
More than a million citizens have registered on the Co-WIN portal as of 1pm Monday, the Union Health Ministry said when India opened vaccination for those over 60 and within the age group of 45 to 59 years with specific comorbidities.
Who is eligible for the Covid vaccine in the second phase?
* All citizens who are or will be 60 years of age or older as of January 1, 2022 are eligible to register.
* Those who are of legal age or who will reach the age of 45 to 59 years as of January 1, 2022 and have any of the 20 specified comorbidities.
How to register for the Covid vaccine on the Co-WIN website
* Citizens can register on the Co-WIN portal through their mobile phone number.
* One-time password verification (OTP) will be performed prior to registration to ensure the veracity of the mobile phone number, and after registration a Co-WIN account will be created for the individual.
* The person can access the account (log in) in Co-WIN using the mobile phone number used at the time of registration.
* The functions to add beneficiaries, edit their data and book an appointment (s) will be available in the citizen’s account.
* The citizen can delete only the beneficiaries that he has added. If one of the four beneficiaries registered in an account is vaccinated, only three records remain, and so on.
* Until the time of vaccination, all registration and appointment records can be edited / deleted by the person doing the registration.
* Only when a person is vaccinated, the record is locked and cannot be edited or deleted.
* Next, a beneficiary must select the type of ID card and provide the ID card number.
* The number of the photo identification card for each beneficiary must be different.
* Any of the following documents can be used for online registration: Aadhaar card / letter, Election Photo Identification Card (EPIC), passport, driver’s license, PAN card, NPR smart card or pension document with photo.
* If the beneficiary’s age is 45-59 years, the beneficiary will be asked to confirm if they have any specified comorbidities.
* In such cases, the beneficiary will also be advised to bring the certificate of comorbidity signed by a Registered Physician (RMP).
* Once all the necessary details are registered, the registration will be completed and an acknowledgment of receipt (proof of registration / token) will be sent to the beneficiary on their registered mobile number.
No problem on the Co-WIN portal, all operations will be simplified in one week: Vardhan
Ensuring that the Co-WIN portal works smoothly, the union’s health minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, said: “There are many people in the country who cannot access or face difficulties in booking. All these systems will be simplified. in just one week. From now on, there is no problem on the Co-WIN portal. ”
Vardhan said that over the next few days, the “walk-in system” for people will be further simplified in the states to ensure smooth operation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the first injection of the Covid-19 vaccine on Monday. Although registration opened at 9 am, the prime minister was the first to leave the block.
She visited the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) early in the morning to take her first dose and appeal to all eligible people to get vaccinated.

He received the locally developed Covaxin vaccine from Bharat Biotech. The other vaccine administered in the country is Covishield from the Oxford-AstraZeneca stable.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Bihar Prime Minister Nitish Kumar and his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik were also shot.
