Coronavirus cases are on the rise worldwide with more than 4 million people infected with the deadly infection. More than 2.8 lakh people have died from Covid-19 worldwide, while more than 1.5 million patients have recovered from the disease worldwide.

However, when it comes to the active number of coronavirus cases, India ranks eighth in the global count, figures released by the global data tracking website Worldometer show.
On Tuesday morning, the Union Ministry of Health updated the active cases of Covid-19 from India to 46,008.
Peru closely follows India in ninth place with respect to the number of active Covid-19 cases. According to Worldometer, the country has 68,822 total coronavirus cases of which 44,455 are active.

Covid-19 active cases are the total number of coronavirus cases after deducting recovered / discharged patients and the number of deaths.
According to the Worldometer data tracker, the United States has the highest number of active coronavirus cases in the world with 1,041,814 people infected. Spain, Italy, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and Brazil are countries with the highest incidence of active cases of Covid-19 worldwide.
Germany, Iran and Canada are the countries that have more total coronavirus cases than India but fewer active cases. Germany has reported 172,576 cases in total, of which 19,298 are active and more than 7,600 have died, the Worldometer site shows.
In Iran, the total number of cases is 109,286, of which 15,17915,179 are active. Almost 70,000 have contracted Covid-19 in Canada, of which 31,994 are classified as active cases.
The number of coronavirus cases in the country exceeded the 70,000 mark on Tuesday. According to the latest figures updated by the Ministry of Health, the national count of Covid-19 amounts to 70,756. There are 46,008 active coronavirus cases in the country, 22,454 patients have been cured or discharged, while 2,293 people have died from the deadly infection.
