Amid rising COVID-19 coronavirus cases across the country, the Home Office (MHA) recently released a new set of “surveillance, containment, and caution” rules to slow the spread of the deadly virus. The new MHA guidelines go into effect on Tuesday (December 1).
Under the new guidelines, states and Union territories have the authority to impose local restrictions such as a night curfew. The states, however, cannot enforce the blockade without consulting the central government. The MHA has also prohibited states from sealing their borders.
The ministry also said that local police and municipal corporations are responsible for ensuring that the guidelines are strictly followed.
This is what is allowed and what is not
The MHA has allowed all activities outside the Containment Zones, except the following, which have been allowed with certain restrictions:
– International passenger air travel
– Movie theaters and theaters to operate with up to 50 percent capacity.
– Pools, only for the training of athletes.
– Showrooms will operate for business-to-business (B2B) purposes only.
– Social / religious / sports / entertainment / educational / cultural / religious meetings, with a maximum of 50% of the capacity of the room. A cap of 200 people in closed spaces.
– No restriction to interstate and intrastate movement.
– People over 65, people with comorbidities, pregnant women, and children under 10 are advised to stay home.
New Maharashtra Travel Guidelines
The Maharashtra government has made it mandatory for people traveling from Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Goa to carry RT-PCR COVID test reports. Domestic passengers traveling on a flight from Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa will need to carry the negative RT-PCR test report.
The proof must be recent from the last 72 hours of travel, prior to arrival in Maharashtra.
