Covid-19 situation in Bengal under control, CM Mamata Banerjee tells Prime Minister Narendra Modi


The Covid-19 situation in West Bengal is under control and the state is addressing the pandemic situation well, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a video conference on Tuesday, a senior government official said.

It emerged that Banerjee urged the Prime Minister to send funds to address the pandemic situation and release due compensation from the GST.

“The prime minister informed the prime minister that the Covid-19 situation in West Bengal is under control despite the state sharing international borders, the holiday season has just ended and train services have been resumed,” the official added. .

He also reminded the Prime Minister that the state has already spent more than 4 billion rupees to deal with the pandemic, but the Chas sent less than 200 million rupees.

“The prime minister has assured the prime minister full cooperation with regard to the vaccine and its distribution,” the official said.

West Bengal has reported 459,000 cases of Covid-19 through Monday with more than 3,500 new cases added only on 23 November. Up to 8,072 people have died from the disease in the state.
