Covid-19 Situation Contained In Delhi, Government Does All It Can – Health Minister Satyendar Jain

The coronavirus pandemic situation in Delhi is under control and the government is carrying out containment, contact tracing and isolation to address the problem, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Sunday.

“Dr. Paul’s expert committee had said that due to winter and the holiday season, cases (of coronavirus disease per day) can increase to 12,000-14,000, but at the moment it is around 4,000, so the situation is contained. We are focused on containment, contact tracing and isolation to address the situation, ”Jain said, according to the ANI news agency.

Jain was referring to the report by the high-level expert committee led by NITI Aayog member Dr. VK Paul, who had said Delhi hospitals should prepare for 15,000 daily cases due to an increase in respiratory illnesses with the beginning of winter along with Covid-19. cases.

The committee had listed three reasons that can lead to an increase in cases. “The winter months that aggravate respiratory diseases; patients may come from outside of Delhi in large numbers; Patients who come from distant areas are likely to become more serious. Also, with festival gatherings, there could be a sudden increase in cases, ”the report said.

Paul, who heads the National Group of Experts on Vaccine Administration for Covid-19 (NEGVAC), also said in an interview with PTI earlier this month that India could see a second wave of coronavirus infections in winters, as cited the increase in cases in Europe. “We cannot rule out (a second wave of coronavirus this winter in India). Things can happen and we are still learning about the virus, ”Paul said, according to PTI.
