BENGALURU: The Karnataka The Department of the Interior, which is continuing its efforts to track down missing British returnees in the state, has yet to find 175 of them, including 80 foreigners. Thirty people who returned tested positive for Covid-19, and seven of them for the new strain.
As of Wednesday night, the state was looking for 199 people and found 24 on Thursday night. Authorities said the returnees have disappeared from the radar mainly due to inactive or incorrect phone numbers.

Experts told TOI that governments need to be cautious about the new variant even though many cases have not yet emerged. It is important to isolate imported cases and test everyone who has come in contact with them, they added.
