NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday he said that while India is doing everything possible to save the lives of all citizens of coronavirus, it is also taking its global obligations very seriously during the pandemic.
Speaking at a global virtual event of the Buddha Purnima, Modi said: “The people of the world who work selflessly for others in these difficult times are commendable.”
“While India is doing everything possible to save the lives of all Indians today, it is also taking its global obligations with the same seriousness. India stands firm and selflessly in these difficult times with those who face problems in India or in abroad, “he said.
The Prime Minister also stated that the growth of India will always help global growth.
The Buddha Purnima celebrations this year are taking place virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event has been organized in honor of coronavirus victims and frontline warriors.
“For us, this time of crisis is the time to extend aid to those who need it. That is why countries around the world have sought help in India during this crisis and we have also reached out to them,” he said. .
The Prime Minister further said that the Buddha’s teachings declared that human beings should constantly strive to overcome difficult situations and urged everyone to work together during this pandemic.
“The goals and standards of our success change over time, but we must keep in mind that our work must be done with a sense of compassion and service for humanity,” he said.
The Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), a global Buddhist umbrella organization, organized the virtual prayer event with the participation of all the paramount chiefs of Buddhist sanghas from around the world.
On the occasion, the prayer ceremonies will be broadcast live from the Lumbini Sacred Garden (Nepal), the Mahabodhi Temple (Bodhgaya, India); Mulgandha Kuti Vihara, Sarnath; Parinirvana stupaKushinagar Pirith singing from Ruwanweli Maha Seya in the sacred and historical Anuradhapura stupa locals, Sri Lanka; Boudhanath, Swayambhu, Namo Stupa, Nepal, apart from other popular Buddhist sites.
“Times have changed, conditions have changed, the systems of society have changed, but the message of Lord buddha it has been constantly flowing in our lives.
