Two hundred twenty-four (224) new cases of coronavirus were reported in Delhi, bringing the total number of Covid-19 positive patients to 8,630, according to an official bulletin on the contagion released by the Delhi government on Saturday. The previous figures in the capital stood at 8,406 positive cases according to the Covid instrument panel of the Union ministry of health.
The Delhi government bulletin, however, says the capital city did not record a single death in the eight-hour period between 4 p.m. and 12 midnight on May 8, 2020.
According to the latest bulletin, the containment areas in the city have been reduced to 84 and a total of 937 people in the capital are now under home isolation. He adds that so far 84,226 tests have been carried out in the city-state.

A separation by age of positive cases in the bulletin also tells an interesting story that, although almost 70% of infections (4567) are in people under 50, this age group only represents about 18% of deaths (12), that is not all, while the highest mortality rate: 48.53% is found among patients older than 60 years, this age group, however, has the least number of positive cases in 967.
The remaining cases, 1008, belong to the age group of 50 to 59 years and represent 23 deaths, almost 34% of all deaths.

Cases of comorbidities or other serious health conditions among Covid deaths are highest among patients older than 60 years: 30 cases at 90.91%, while 78.26% of all deaths in the 50-59 age group they were among patients with comorbidities. This factor is also high among deaths of patients younger than 50 years: 10 deaths with 83.33%.
LNJP, AIIMS Delhi and Jhajjar, RGSSH and SJH were Covid-19’s main dedicated hospitals hosting the largest number of positive Delhi patients.
In its most recent update, the union health ministry put the total number of cases at 59,662 and the number of deaths in 1981. The ministry said 17,847 people have so far recovered from the infection.
