PATNA: In another case of frontline Covid-19 warriors facing harassment, a village chowkidar was made to do around 50 squats after, as part of his duty, he stopped the vehicle of the district agriculture officer ( DAO) and asked to show pass to move around in the Araria district of Bihar.
Taking the matter seriously, Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey spoke to Ms Dhurat Sayali Savalaram of Araria SP on Tuesday and asked for a report on the incident.

The incident, the video of which has now gone viral on social media, took place near Surjapur Mor under the Araria police station on Monday when the Ganesh Lal Tatma village chowkidar alias Gonu Tatma stopped the DAO vehicle Manoj Kumar and asked him to show his pass to move on the road.
This angered the officer who not only scolded the chowkidar but also asked him to do at least 50 sit-ups while covering his ears.
A police officer was also seen in the video helping the DAO to punish the Chowkidar. Initially, Chowkidar asked for forgiveness. But the DAO and police officers forced him to do 50 sit-ups. One of his colleagues also made a video of the incident on his mobile phone.
The state agriculture minister, Prem Kumar, has also asked his departmental chief to seek an explanation from the DAO and take appropriate action.
