India’s COVID-19 count advanced to 60,000 marks today as states reported more than 3,000 cases of coronavirus for the third day in a row. The total number of coronavirus patients in the country increased to 59,662. Maharashtra continued to add more than 1,000 cases to the account even on Friday.
The number of COVID-19 related deaths in India increased to 1,981. Up to 95 people died in the past 24 hours. Maharashtra also witnessed the largest increase in the number of deaths in a single day. At least 37 people have died in the state in the past 24 hours. Gujarat reported 24 deaths on Friday.
The number of patients with active coronavirus in the country was 39,834. On the positive side, almost 30% of all coronavirus cases recovered from the disease.
Coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and West Bengal are on the rise. Tamil Nadu again added 600 new cases in the last 24 hours. The state saw the biggest jump in the COVID-19 count this week. The total number of coronavirus patients in the state was 6,009.
Delhi and Tamil Nadu were the last states to confirm more than 6,000 coronavirus cases after Maharashtra and Gujarat. At least 300 people confirmed positive for coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the COVID-19 count in the national capital to 6,318.
Maharashtra’s coronavirus count increased to 19,063. The state witnessed 1,000 new cases in the past 24 hours. The death toll in the state was 731. Maharashtra was the only state that recorded more than 10,000 cases of coronavirus in India and more than 700 deaths.
Up to 216 districts in the country have not reported any COVID-19 cases so far, 42 districts have not registered any infections in the last 28 days and 29 districts have not registered any cases in the last 21 days, said the Ministry of Health of the Union. on Friday.
ICMR will conduct a clinical trial to assess the safety and efficacy of convalescent plasma therapy in 21 hospitals, said Luv Agarwal, joint secretary of the ministry of health.
