Maharashtra detected 21,029 cases of the new coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing its count to 12.63 lakh. With 479 deaths from the disease, the number rose to 33,886. The 12,63,799 cases of Covid-19 in the state include 2,73,477 patients who are in treatment and 9,56,030 who have recovered.
Mumbai reported 2,360 new cases on Wednesday, bringing its count to 1,90,264. At least 49 people died due to Covid-19, bringing the death toll to 8,604. Pune, for its part, detected 3,886 infections; His total Covid-19 figure is now 2.61,683, including 5,954 deaths.
PM Narendra Modi conducts videoconference with CM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met on Wednesday with the chief ministers of the seven states most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic to assess the Covid-19 situation. Interior Minister Amit Shah also attended the meeting. Prime Minister Modi told the CMs to consider brief lockdowns to curb the spread of the disease and stressed the need to strengthen their contact tracing strategies.
