Amid the surge in coronavirus cases in Rajasthan, the state government announced on Saturday (November 21) to impose a nightly curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the headquarters of eight districts, including Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer, Alwar and Bhilwara.
The Rajasthan government also announced that Section 144 will remain in effect in all districts of the state from Saturday. The government also increased the penalty imposed for not wearing masks to 500 rupees from 200 previously to curb the spread of COVID-19.
It should be noted that 3,007 new coronavirus cases were reported in Rajasthan on Saturday. The death toll from COVID-19 in Rajasthan was 16 on Saturday. The COVID-19 count in Rajasthan is now 2.40,676 and the death toll at 2,146. The number of active cases in the state is 21,951.
Of the 3007 new cases, 551 were reported in Jaipur, while 444 people tested positive for the coronavirus in Jodhpur.
Previously, the Gujarat government had imposed a 57-hour marathon curfew in Ahmedabad starting at 9pm on Friday. The state government also imposed a night curfew on Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot starting on Saturday, November 21.

Gujarat’s Chief Deputy Minister Nitin Patel announced a curfew between 9:00 pm and 6:00 am in the cities of Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara starting on Saturday. “The curfew will remain in force until further announcement. I urge citizens to cooperate with the authorities to contain the virus,” Patel said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a night curfew in five districts. The curfew was imposed in the districts of Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Vidisha and Ratlam from 21 November and will remain in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. People engaged in essential services and factory workers are exempt.
