Coronavirus: Pune district reports more than 60 new cases within 12 hours

Pune reported another increase of 68 new COVID-19 cases within 12 hours, bringing the district’s cumulative count of positive active cases to 1,464, health officials said on May 3.

To date, the Pune district has reported a total of 1980 COVID-19 cases, which includes 1,464 active cases, 103 deaths, and 413 graduates.

While waiting for details of the new cases, most of them were reported from the city of Pune, authorities said.

According to figures provided by the Pune Zilla Parishad Health Department as of Saturday night, 1,396 active cases were recorded including 1,321 cases in the city of Pune, 59 in Pimpri-Chinchwad and 16 in rural areas of Pune.

Of these 1,396 cases, 1,117 are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals managed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), 155 in Sassoon and BJ Medical College hospitals, 49 in civilian hospitals, 16 in rural hospitals, and 59 in PCMC-administered hospitals. .

Seventy-one of these cases are said to be in critical condition.

Dr. Pawar said that as of yesterday, samples from a total of 16,254 people had been analyzed in the Pune district, of which 13,933 samples had been negative. The district has witnessed an increase of nearly 300 new coronavirus cases in the past 72 hours.

Counting Pune, the death toll in the Pune division, which includes the Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Solapur districts along with Pune, is now at 113, with Solapur reporting six deaths, the Satara district registering two, and Kolhapur and Sangli each reported. death so far.

Dr Deepak Mhaisekar, Division Commissioner for Pune, reported that as of Saturday there were a total of 2,087 cases in the division, of which 1,566 were active.

Meanwhile, at least 17 new positive cases of Covid-19 were reported from Aurangabad district in the Marathwada state region, bringing the total number of cases to 273 of which 239 were active positive cases, they told health officials. in the district.

16 of these cases were reported from the Mukundwadi area of ​​the city, sources from the Government Medical College and Hospital (GCMH) said.

The district had recorded its first positive Covid-19 case on March 15. During the following 45 days, as the number of cases increased, the contagion seemed to be controlled since the count was just over 50 cases.

“However, in the past week or so, the district has witnessed an alarming increase of more than 220 cases, with an average daily increase of 25 cases,” said a GCMH official.
