Pune authorities attributed the increasing numbers to increased testing capacity, and health officials now analyze more than 1,000 samples per day.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 522 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of infected people to 8,590, a Health Department official said. With 27 more deaths, the total number of COVID-19 deaths increased to 369, he said.
