Coronavirus | Odisha concerned about the entry of individuals without prior information

The government of Odisha on Sunday urged citizens to inform authorities about the arrival of returnees as expected the “without notice” the return of a large number of Odia people for the State.

“Due to the running of the bulls, the people stayed outside to return to the State of pre-approval of transport systems such as trains and flights. They were sent to their people in a controlled way, after checking at the border check posts, railway stations and airports. The government used to get advance information about them. Subsequently, the quarantine facilities and services are provided”, said Pradeep Kumar Jena, Special Relief Commissioner, here.

The regulations have changed since then and the majority of the returnees are arriving by special trains. The Centre has also proposed to launch air travel open since Monday, and resume of the services of trains in the next few weeks.

“There is a huge possibility that the people who come into Odisha without prior information. From now on, we may face problems in providing systematic and controlled quarantine. So the people are requested to inform the government of any of to return home without information,” Mr. Jena urged.

‘Without prior consent’

He added, “Before, Shramik Special trains were sent to our State after obtaining our consent. Indian Railways used to give detailed information about the people who travel in special trains, after which we used to make elaborate plans to bring people from the train to the quarantine facilities. Now, the system is made and the special trains can be reached without the prior consent of the receiving State.”

“It is observed that a large number of trains that come to the State without prior notice. It will not be easy to take with them [passengers on these trains] quarantine facilities,” he said.

On the night of Saturday, 12 Shramik Special train left Telangana Odisha. The Telangana government has not hinted at Odisha of these trains. Indian Railways estimates about 20,000 people will arrive in Odisha, which has caught the government of the State of preparation.

Train fares of people returning to the State without prior information, can not be refunded, the Lord of Jena, he warned.

“Although there has been an increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases, it is not a matter of concern. The situation is under control. It is possible because we have been efficiently able to quarantine people who return from abroad,” Mr. Jena said, adding that no community spread had taken place in the State.
