Coronavirus India Live Updates: Manipur’s Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced on Sunday that he tested positive for Covid-19. “I have tested positive for COVID-19. I ask all those who were in close contact with me recently to isolate themselves and get tested, ”Singh tweeted.
As the national capital continues to report an increase in Covid-19 cases, Union Interior Minister Amit Shah will meet with Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal later today to discuss the current situation in Delhi. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Delhi Governor Anil Baijal will also be present at the meeting, ANI reported. Due to the winter season and the large influx of holiday meeting patients, Delhi could experience some 15,000 cases in a day soon report from the National Center for Disease Control.
India surpassed the 88 lakh mark after registering 41,100 new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours ending at 9 a.m. on Sunday. The country’s total count currently stands at more than 88.14 lakh cases. With 447 people succumbing to the virus on Saturday, the death toll is 1,29,635. Of the total cases, 4.79 lakhs of cases are active, while 82.63 lakhs of people have recovered after testing positive.
Religious sites in Maharashtra, closed since March, will open tomorrow, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced on Saturday. According to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) published by the state government, religious sites located outside the COVID-19 containment zones will be able to remain open according to the hours decided by the authorities, and devotees will be able to enter in a staggered manner. Maharashtra anticipates a second wave in January-February.

Meanwhile, the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the AtmaNirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana on Thursday to encourage the creation of new jobs. Starting October 1, the scheme will provide incentives for establishments registered with EPFO that accept a new hire or offer employment to those who lost their jobs between March 1 and September 30. The scheme is for those who earn less than 15,000 rupees a month. It will be operational until June 30, 2021.
