Coronavirus India update, case, lockdown, state-wise: Coronovirus cases in India have crossed the 4.40 lakh mark as lockdown measures are being strengthened at some locations to check the prevalence of COVID 19. The highest single-day spike of 31,933 new COVID-19 cases and 312 deaths has been recorded in India. In the last 24 hours in India, coronovirus positive cases stand at 4,40,215, including 1,78,014 COVID 19 active cases. So far, 2,48,189 COVID 19 positive patients have been cured or discharged. According to data shared by the Ministry of Health, 14,011 people have died due to extreme infectious diseases.
The Karnataka government has announced strict lockout measures in Bengaluru (Bangalore) by sealing COVID 19 cluster areas in the state capital. Another southern Indian city of Chennai is already witnessing a lockdown imposed by the Tamil Nadu government following the rise of COVID 19 cases. There are also measures for lockout in Madurai. Assam government has announced that a ward-wise total lockdown will be imposed in Guwahati.
Worldwide, approximately 91 million coronovirus cases have been confirmed. The countries most affected are the United States, Brazil, Russia, India and the UK. So far more than 4.71 lakh people have died due to coronovirus. According to data shared by Johns Hopkins University and Medicine, the US, Brazil, United Kingdom, Italy reported the most deaths.
