“I call on people to protest outside their houses for the celebration of black banners, black ribbons and wear black masks between 11 am and 12 noon on the Friday. They should maintain social distancing during the protest,” Patil said.
The Congress, which is one of the components in the Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), the government, for its part, said that the BJP was “anti-Maharashtra”.
“It is expected that the BJP could get up against the Center of the injustice meted out to Maharashtra and its people in terms of financial aid. It is now clear that the BJP loyalty does not lie with Maharashtra,” state Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said.
Meanwhile, in reference to the Leader of the Opposition Devendra Fadnavis the recent visit of the Governor of BS Koshyari, another Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe claimed that the BJP leader was trying to “destabilize” the MVA government.
“On the face of it, Fadnavis met with the governor to complain of the alleged failure of the government, but the people have seen through his policy of visiting the governor and to the formation of a government in the first hours (in November of last year).
Londhe was referring to the government formed by Fadnavis, a former CM, with the support of the NCP’s Ajit Pawar in the midst of the political instability in the state after the hung verdict in the Assembly. However, the relationship did not last long and the government collapsed within 80 hours.
The Congress spokesperson also asked the BJP to ensure that Maharashtra is paid pending GST reimbursement to the Center as soon as possible.
