Coronavirus in Delhi: 1,547 new Covid cases, 32 deaths in Delhi | Delhi News


NEW DELHI: Delhi saw 1,547 new Covid cases on Wednesday, stemming from more than 79,000 tests conducted the previous day. The positivity rate was 1.96%. With 32 new deaths, the death toll rose to 10,147, while active cases fell to 13,261 from 14,480 on Tuesday.
This is the second consecutive day that the positivity rate, the number of confirmed cases of those analyzed, remained below 2%. On Tuesday it was 1.90%.
Since December 3, Delhi’s positivity rate has remained below 5%, which, the state health department official said, confirmed the reversal of the third wave of the disease outbreak that claimed more. 2,600 lives in November.
The positivity rate between December 3 and 7 successively decreased to 4.96%, 4.78%, 4.2%, 3.68% and 3.15%, respectively. However, on December 8 it rose to 4.23%, falling again to 3.42% on December 9 and 2.46% on December 10. On December 11, the positivity rate was 3.33%, which fell to 2.64% on December 12, was 2.74% on December 13, and fell to 2.15% on December 14.
The decrease in cases has caused a sharp drop in the occupation of Covid beds in several hospitals. According to data shared on the Delhi Corona app, 81% of Covid beds in Delhi are currently empty, along with 48% of ICU beds with a fan and 73% without a fan. In November, almost all ICU beds were occupied in the best public and private hospitals due to the large influx.
