Coronavirus cases jump to about 63,000 in India, 2,109 deaths. Wise state

The total number of coronavirus cases in India increased to 62,939 after 3,277 covid-19 infections were detected in the past 24 hours, figures released by the Ministry of Health earlier today showed. The number of deaths from coronavirus-related complications rose to 2,109. Within 24 hours, the death toll rose by 128. The latest figures show that there were 41,472 active coronavirus cases in the country, while 19,357 have been cured / discharged.

The testing capacity for COVID-19 in the country has been increased to about 95,000 tests per day, said Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. And so far, a total of more than 15 lakh tests have been carried out to detect coronaviruses.

Maharashtra (20,228 cases), Gujarat (7,796), Tamil Nadu (6,535) and Delhi (6,542) are among the most affected states.

The union health ministry will send core teams in 10 states that have witnessed or are witnessing high cases of COVID-19 to help their health departments facilitate management of the outbreak.

As countries reopen their countries, there is concern that coronavirus cases may increase.

Worldwide, more than 40 lakh of people have tested positive for coronavirus since it first appeared in China last December, and nearly 2.8 lakh of people have lost their lives, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University. With 13 lakh cases and more than 78,000 deaths, the United States remains the worst affected country. (With contributions from the agency)
