Daily COVID-19 cases in India increased by 45,674, pushing its overall coronavirus count past the 85 lakh mark, government data released this morning shows. The number of new Covid infections in a one-day period was 9 percent lower than nearly 50,000 on Friday. Coronavirus-related deaths also increased by 559 in this 24-hour period, bringing India’s total number of Covid deaths, among the lowest in the world per million, to 1.26,121.
