Corona Cases in India: With 93,249 New Cases, India Records Highest Daily Increase Since Mid-September | India News


NEW DELHI: India reported a steady nationwide rise in coronavirus cases on Sunday. The country recorded the highest single-day increase of 93,249 coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said. This number has raised the country’s Covid-19 count to 1,24,85,509.
While, with 513 deaths, the death toll also rose to 1,64,623, according to government data.

This is the largest increase in cases since mid-September, even as India again began recording the highest number of daily infections in the world. As of September 19, India had registered 93,337 new infections.

Active Covid-19 cases in India now stand at 6,91,597, while 1,16,29,289 people have recovered from the disease so far, the Health Ministry said.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease increased to 1,16,29,289, while the fatality rate stands at 1.32%, according to the data.
PM Modi chairs a high-level meeting to review the situation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on Sunday to review the situation and the vaccination schedule amid a surge in coronavirus cases.
The sources said that senior officials, including the cabinet secretary, the prime minister’s chief secretary, the health secretary and NITI Aayog member Vinod Paul, attended the meeting.

India’s Covid-19 count had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It went from 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and surpassed the one crore mark on December 19.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, as of April 3, 24,81,25,908 samples had been analyzed and by Saturday 11,66,716 had been analyzed.
