Cops Warn of Speeches as Hyderabad Polls Generate Controversial Comments

Tejasvi Surya of the BJP, MP from South Bangalore, has made several controversial comments.

Hyderabad:

In a virulent campaign for the Hyderabad civic body elections on December 1, political speeches will be monitored and action taken against any fires, the state police chief said today.

“We have information about communal elements that are trying to cause problems. We are examining the speeches carefully. Action will be taken according to the law against those who try to create disturbances,” said Police Director General Mahender Reddy.

“If the speeches are found to be causing problems, the case will be recorded,” Reddy said.

The police warning comes after a controversy over deep community comments by BJP leaders in the campaign for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls involving 150 districts or civic districts.

Tejasvi Surya of the BJP, the deputy from South Bangalore, has made several controversial comments when confronting state ruler Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM.

Tejasvi Surya was charged with entering Osmania University earlier this week without permission, Telangana police said, adding that the university’s registrar had complained against him.

“We are commissioning police officers from all over Telangana. If there is anything on social media, please notify the police,” said the police chief, adding that 51,500 police officers would be stationed at the civic polls.

He also warned against forwarding provocative messages online.

The campaign speech for the Hyderabad civic elections has swirled in Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, allegations of Rohingya infiltrators and a Hindu-Muslim narrative.

Tejasvi Surya called Mr. Owaisi the “modern Mohammed Ali Jinnah” who wanted to turn Hyderabad into “Hyderabad of Pakistan”.

“Who is Owaisi? Owaisi is the new avatar of Jinnah. Every vote you give to BJP is a vote to Bharat, Hindutva, to strengthen the country. A vote to Owaisi is a vote against India and all that India represents, “said Surya. in a meeting.

“I want to tell Akbaruddin and Asaduddin Owaisi, this is not the time for Nizams. This is the time for the Hindu Hruday Samrat Narendra Modi. You will be nothing here,” Surya said.

Another BJP deputy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, party chairman in Telangana, threatened a “surgical attack to drive out the Rohingya and Pakistanis” in the old neighborhoods of Hyderabad. He also accused AIMIM of relying on the votes of “Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Rohingya” who live illegally in the old city.

On the BJP claiming that the Rohingya were allowed to live illegally in Hyderabad to obtain votes, the DGP said: “We have registered cases against the Rohingya. 62 cases of fraudulent documents have been filed.”
